DJ Charo

My name is Charo Velecio and my all time passion is DEEP Underground House Music with a splash of Afro-Cuban spice. I was born in Habana, Cuba. I immigrated to Madrid, Spain and finally settled in New York City. My ancestral background has a lot to do with my taste in music: I appreciate the percussion and Afro-Cuban beats from Cuba. The love for the strings I get from Flamenco guitarists and my passion for electric beats I get from the USA. I would describe my sound as Deep Afro House Music. I work for Columbia University overseeing the printing department as the Administrative Coordinator. After scanning zillions of exams and creating study books/guides/posters/etc., no one is in more need of music than I am! I get inspired all the time by different DJ's - they all bring something special to the dance floor. I usually go out a few times a week to listen to different DJ’s, listen to what they play, how the dancers react to the tracks, you know, I do my homework. I was a guest DJ for RF’s grand opening and I’ve been playing here about once a month since. I think the space is great, the vibe is fabulous and the women beautiful. I’d love to thank the women who continue to support me and the chicks who come out and shimmy their backsides to my tunes. Here's a sample of some of the music you'll hear when I spin @ RF Peace ‘n Love, Charo

DJ Zuleica Martins

My name is Zuleica Martins and I am very passionate about music. I’ve always been surrounded by music and as a little kid growing up there were always records playing in our house. That’s where I would say my love for music came from. I was born in Rio de Janerio, Brazil and I came to the States when I was five years old. We moved to New Jersey and that is where I still live today. Outside of spinning I am the label manager for Vega Records, owned by Little Louie Vega. I have been messing with the turn table for two years now. I’ve always had so much respect for DJs – when you walk into a club and experience the feeling, the energy and the journey that certain DJs can take you on it is pretty amazing. I would describe my sound as very diverse: I can go from Hip Hop to R&B to Classics to Brazilian and Funk. When you hear my spin you will definitely hear various styles of music. I have been playing at RF Lounge since December 2009. I love the new RF Lounge space; it’s very warm, elegant and trendy. When you walk in it has the vibe of New York. I feel every lesbian, whether you live in The City or are visiting from out of town, should experience RF Lounge. RF is a place where sexy women come to have a good time with their partners and friends; and of course to meet good looking single ladies :) It’s a great feeling for me to be able to play tunes for the beautiful women at RF. I want to give them good energy and a good time while they are here!

DJ Susan Levine

I am a native New Yawker. Brooklyn born and raised in the burbs of Long Island. I spin guest spots for many of the women's and men's parties in NY, NJ and Connecticut. I was also resident DJ right here at RF Lounge back when it was called Rubyfruit. Music has always been an obsession for me. Nothing moves me like music – and I always love to share my passion with all my party friends out there. You want to know what I think about the new RF space? Having spent much so time in the old one I am sooooooo happy you got rid of those huge wooden throne chairs that took up half the room! The place looks great! My sound is house based club mixes of top 40 and hip hop tunes with some Latin music mixed in. I absolutely love to turn people on to new music mixes you can't get commercially. There are so many talented music producers out there coming out with some amazing remixes. You can hear the radio versions on the radio or a jukebox, but the remixes are what gets the party moving. Here's a sample of my Music Quantcast

DJ Ri-MiX

I was born and raised in Burlington, VT and moved to the DC area for school which is where I started DJing. I started dancing at the age of three and I have taught tap, jazz, and hip hop classes. I went on to get my degree in Dance Therapy. Outside of being a DJ I work at a local University as the Wellness Education Specialist where I develop curriculum for educational programming on alcohol, drugs, relationships, sexual assault, eating disorders, stress, sleep, etc. I was always fascinated with finding the perfect mix of songs to get people moving… finding out what makes them get that feeling where they just have to get up out of your chair. My sound is described by how I move and what I like to dance to. I like to play music to groove to and really tease you before getting into some heavier dance music. I love a good down beat – it's what gets me out of my chair. I love hip hop, R&B, funk, go-go, reggae, and pop, but I'll play whatever the crowd wants, which is often many things at once! It's why I love playing music for queer bars, it's always a challenge! I started spinning at RF in October 2009. What do I think of the new space? Have you SEEN the bathrooms?!?! Seriously. Swank. Join me at RF Lounge for hot music, hot drinks and the hottest women in NY.
